Rish makes Marshal watch the new promos for Disneyland, featuring fake-Han Solo and faux-Princess Leia, briefly calls Big Anklevich a baby, and tries to counter the many, many complaints about this new change. Rish here. After a bit of foot-dragging, I finally watched the second season of "Andor," and just like seeing CITIZEN KANE, GONE WITH THE WIND, THE RISE OF CHUN-LI, and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA for the first time, I kinda had to shrug and say, "Yeah, it was as good as everybody says."
Whoops, guess you don't have to listen to me and Marshal Latham talk about it now over at the Star Wars: Delusions of Grandeur podcast HERE. Seems like a bit of a waste spending all that time on the episode.
...and watch an episode of a show for little, little kids!
The last "Delusions of Grandeur" episode we did was inspired by watching Alfred Hitchcock's movie NOTORIOUS, starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman, and in reading about that, it said that an episode of "The Clone Wars" was a total homage to it, the one called "Senate Spy" from 2009. And yes, there are definite parallels there.
Just as we were going to record, however, the great James Earl Jones died, and we spend a few minutes talking about his masterful addition to the Star Wars experience. Check it out HERE.

Last year (or maybe it was the year before), Marshal Latham had a contest over on his Journey Into... podcast where he assigned Journey song titles, and volunteers were supposed to write short stories based on those song titles. Well, you've already heard mine ("Troubled Child"), but everybody's pal Big Anklevich also contributed one.
His was called "Still They Ride," and since it had a Star Wars theme, we decided to put it on the "Delusions of Grandeur" podcast. It features Speeder Bikes, and has a fun, full-cast production. Afterward, Big joins Marshal and me to talk about the story and the various Stormtroopers throughout the Trilogy (and beyond). Check it out HERE!
Do you miss That Gets My Goat? Well, Marshal and I corralled Big Anklevich to come on the "Delusions of Grandeur" podcast again, and talk to us about "The Ewoks: Battle For Endor" TV movie. It was the first time I had seen it since 1985, and I think Big remembered it even less than I did. Marshal Latham himself had never seen it.
But it was not a bad movie, in my opinion, and the episode of us talking about it, is one of our best. It took practically forever for me to edit, but it made me laugh more than any other "Delusions" episode we've done.

So, the second half of one of my 2020 Resolutions is now out there. On the "Star Wars: Delusions of Grandeur" podcast I do with Marshal Latham, you can check out the rest of "Star Wars Sequel," the revised first draft Leigh Brackett wrote for Lucasfilm in 1978.
It has tons of differences and similarities to THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and I voice all the parts, which may or may not be entertaining. Regardless, it's a fascinating artifact of how we got the 1980 film, which remains the greatest sequel of all time (GODFATHER II be damned).

Over on Marshal Latham's "Star Wars: Delusions of Grandeur" podcast, I got half of one of my 2020 New Year's Resolutions done. It was an idea I had last year, when I came across a copy of Leigh Brackett's revised first draft of "Star Wars Sequel," the screenplay she wrote based on George Lucas's story as a follow-up to STAR WARS.
I found it fascinating, in both the similarities and the differences to THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and while I intended to summarize it in a single episode, I ended up simply reading the whole thing, which will take two episodes at least. Check it out RIGHT HERE.
